Our Engineering team kick-ass in the development of an innovative product that will be used by (hope!) billions of users.


We are looking for an engineering manager to join one of our Squads. As engineering manager, you’ll lead a team of approximately 6 engineers and you’ll be responsible for shaping key technical decisions as we scale to millions of users.

 

Our current stack focuses on Python, Kotlin, Swift, Java and React, but we like to focus on picking the right tools for the job. We also like to work following the best technical practices: automation, testing, code review, continuous integration and continuous deployment.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Line-manage a cross-functional team of engineers (iOS, Android, Web and/or Backend) in the squad.

  • Perform 1:1 meetings with each of them, understanding their needs and helping them.

  • Be a hands-on manager spending half part of your time (or sometimes more) coding.

  • Take the personal development/growth of the team members at heart, coach them and set challenging objectives together.

  • Work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard new engineers.

  • Be an ambassador of the 21 Buttons culture and values.

  • Lead technical discussions and drive effective technical decisions covering the different areas.

  • Manage performance metrics of the applications.

 

Requirements

Job requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.

  • Have a passion for building software development processes and engineering culture.

  • A few years experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.

  • Skilled & proficient in the development of full stack applications which includes web, native mobile (Android / iOS) apps & APIs.

  • Experience working with Solid Principles and Clean Code.

  • Expert knowledge of one practice area’s stack and advanced knowledge of other practice areas’ stacks (and ability to quickly learn others).

  • Top notch communication skills with other engineers and product/design.

  • A deep understanding of how engineering and product teams are put together.

  • A desire to focus on managing people.

  • A deep interest in being the face of 21 Buttons culture for their team.

  • Ability to generate support for a company/team decision.
